Yes to Commitment

Change, learn, grow. Is that something you are open to doing? Then say yes to commitment!  Transformation happens by the commitment you make to God and His ways.  Just like committing to a new sport or art project, you are going to need to invest time, energy, sometimes money, and for sure effort. But with dedication, you will gain confidence in your new abilities. Committing your life to God, is just that!

Reading The Bible, praying, taking notes, memorizing verses, reading devotionals, and going to church are simple ways to begin growing your faith. Spending time each day aligns your heart with God’s heart.  As your relationship unfolds, your behavior will change. Like when you want to explode on a younger sibling for ruining your favorite shirt, you take on the character of God and respond with gentleness and calm words. Your attitude softens.

In this way, you begin to see how you’ve resolved in your mind to change. Your new way of thinking will include promises and commands of God. Your new way of thinking will cause you choose to live differently.  Is this outfit appropriate? Am I honoring God by telling this story to a friend? Slowing down your actions, words, and thoughts will bring God glory.

Answer this question: How can I commit to the Lord in my everyday life?

Prayer
Maybe today you need to work through a prayer of surrender. What does that look like? Call out to the Father and praise Him for presence, then give up control of a specific area of your life. Tell Him to move and show you where to follow. Give over the things of this earth that are trying to control you. Pray His will to be done in you.
