Pray 2.0

Talk. Talker. Talking.

Talk to Him. Make it your quest to seek Him. Jeremiah 29:13 NIV says, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

Talker. You have to open up. Tell Him what is making you sad. Tell Him what is making you happy. Tell Him things going on with your parents, your friends, grades, boys, temptation, social media, etc. He wants to hear it all.

David wrote many of the Psalms, some even as songs to God. He had an open heart to have a conversation with The Lord. And God declare him, “a man after God’s own heart.” (1 Samuel 13:14 NIV) God gave David many responsibilities and made him a king. David was not perfect, he made mistakes like murder and adultery. Yet still God used him to do great and mighty things for the Kingdom of God. God still said David was “a man after God’s own heart.” Why? Because God saw David’s humility, God heard David’s request for forgiveness, God knew He could use David to declare God’s goodness. The condition of David’s heart came from the place of connection with God. Connection that happened in David’s openness to have conversations.

Talking. God is talking to you.  Are you listening, are you slowing down to ponder? God uses Scripture, people around us, your time in prayer, situations, Bible knowledge, He uses them all to whisper to you. When we meditate on God’s word, your soul find rest. It brings your heart to an awareness of His presence. There have been times in my life where a specific verse will come up a few times. Like I may be talking about it with a friend one week, then pastor may preach on it Sunday, and then a couple days later that verse pops up as the Verse of Day in a phone app. God will use whatever is necessary to get your attention. He’s talking, in His way, it’s your turn to listen.

Jesus started talking to the waves, “Quiet, be still!” (Mark 4:39 NIV) Spoiler alert, it became quiet and the rolling rushing water stilled. Life is rushing us along to the next thing and yet you have to pause to listen God speaking to you. You need to see the moments He is carrying you, the moments He is shepherding you, the moments He is pushing you forward. He is there in all of it. “The life of every living thing is in His hand, as well as the breath of all humanity.” (Job 12:10 CSB) He’s got you, girl! Do you trust Him enough to start talking?  He longs to hear you, simple words spoken to Him from your open heart.
