Victory in Truth
Middle school is tricky. During that period in my life, someone made a negative comment about my body. Obviously it’s that season when everyone’s body is changing. However, I’ve held onto that negativity until just recently. That’s over 20 years! Don’t be like me! Don’t believe one comment that much for it to shape your identity for so long. One person’s comments do not define you. One person’s negative comments don’t get that power in your mind. When we take the comments people have said about us and believe them, we are giving the devil a way in. Instead you have the power of the Spirit to “take every thought captive” (2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV).
At first, we may not even realize we are believing the lie. Society has coined the phrase, I’m sure you’ve heard it, “Find your truth.” Satan wants to use our weakness and lure us away from the Truth. Satan’s truths are lies. He says things like “your hair is bad shade of mouse brown” and “you don’t practice very good, so you’ll never be good”. He tries to make you believe lies and will do anything to distract you from recalling God’s truth. He has no place in your mind but he’s the ultimate deceiver and will stop at nothing to bring you down. That sounds utterly scary! But God!
“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8) Whoa, God is giving us a warning about satan straight from The Bible! So as much as you may be upset, discouraged, frustrated, or angered about what someone has said about you, you have the power of choice. The difference is you can choose to let satan attack your weakness of mind or you can make the choice to let God’s truths play out in your mind. Look back at the Scriptures you’ve been reading through this week.
God’s Word is clear “resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” All your feelings are real, but not all you feelings are true. Emotions can enhance our lives, but they can also destroy us. As a girl learning the difference of when to let our emotions guide us is a process. Often times putting your feelings or lies people have said about you, and holding them up against God’s Word, you will see satan’s lies more clearly. That is the process, evaluating each emotion then responding in truth.
“Jesus answered, ‘I am The Way, and The Truth, and The Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)
The Truth is Jesus! His truth is He loves you! He created you and loves you far more than you can even comprehend. He knows who you are, what you are capable of, what your future looks like, and He loves it all! He doesn’t hold up a mirror to show you all your flaws and failures. Nope, He sees your reflection with a vision of love!

Prayer
Jesus, at Your Name the devil will flee. So Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, I know You are the Victor. You have won the battle! Teach me to cast out the lies of evil and focus on Your truths all the days of my life. May I not succumb to the ideals of current culture and the world but seek You. Amen
